Trans Liberty and Trans Liberty PAC

This website, transliberty.org, is run jointly by two affiliated organizations:
- Trans Liberty, a social welfare organization under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 41-5088580).
- Trans Liberty PAC, a federal political committee (FEC ID C00901769).
In this policy, "Trans Liberty," "we" and "us" mean both organizations, unless a section names one of them. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website, our programs, and our emails, text messages and phone calls.
Which organization holds your information
- Information you give on a form, page or message for Trans Liberty PAC, including contributions to the PAC, is held by Trans Liberty PAC.
- Information you give for Trans Liberty's other work is held by Trans Liberty.
- The two organizations are affiliated and may share supporter information with each other. Each uses it as this policy describes.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up, sign a petition, volunteer, attend an event, take part in a program, contribute, or contact us, you may give us your name, email address, mobile or other phone number, mailing address, ZIP code, employer and occupation, and anything you write to us.
Contributions. Contributions are processed by ActBlue or another payment processor, under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Federal law requires Trans Liberty PAC to collect and report the name, mailing address, employer and occupation of people whose contributions to the PAC total more than $200 in a calendar year. The Federal Election Commission makes that information public.
- Trans Liberty keeps contributor records as federal tax law requires. If Trans Liberty makes independent expenditures or electioneering communications, federal law may require it to report to the Federal Election Commission contributors who gave for that purpose.
Surveys and research. Some programs, such as research studies, collect information under their own consent terms. Those terms control how that information is used, and they come first if they differ from this policy.
Information from partners. If you sign a petition or take part in a joint action that we sponsor with partner organizations, those partners may share with us the information you gave on that form.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours may record your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the site that referred you. We may use cookies and similar tools to keep the site working and to understand how people use it.
Information from other sources. We may add information from public records, such as voter files, and from commercial data providers, to keep our records accurate and to understand who may want to hear from us.
How we use information
- To send you updates, alerts and requests for support by email, text message, phone call and mail.
- To process and acknowledge contributions, and to meet our legal reporting duties.
- To organize volunteers, events, programs and research.
- To run, protect and improve our website and programs.
- To respond to you when you contact us.
Text messages and mobile information
- We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers, or text message opt-in data and consent, with any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional purposes.
- All the sharing categories in the next section exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. That information is not shared with any third party.
- We share mobile numbers only with the service providers that send our messages and place our calls for us, and only for that purpose.
Who we share information with
- Each other. Trans Liberty and Trans Liberty PAC are affiliated and may share supporter information with each other.
- Service providers that work for us, such as payment processors, email, texting and calling platforms, website hosts, and data and analytics providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Government agencies, when the law requires it, such as the contributor reports described earlier.
- Legal and safety reasons, when we believe it is needed to comply with the law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, safety or property of Trans Liberty, our supporters, or others.
- Like-minded organizations. We may share your name, email address and mailing address with organizations whose goals we believe you share. We never share mobile numbers or text message consent this way.
- Partners in joint actions. Some petitions and actions are sponsored together with partner organizations. When you sign one, the information you give on that form may go to us and to the partners named on it, as the form states. Mobile numbers and text message consent are not shared with partners for their marketing.
Sensitive information
If you choose to tell us about your gender identity, health, or similar sensitive matters, for example in a survey or a story you share, we use it only for the purpose stated when we asked for it.
Your choices
- Text messages: reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from that program. Reply HELP for help.
- Email: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.
- Phone calls: ask the caller to stop calling you, or email us. We keep our own do-not-call list and honor every request.
- Mail: email us to be removed from our mailing list.
- Access or correction: email [email protected] to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct it.
Records of contributions must be kept as federal law requires, even after you opt out of communications.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.

These terms apply to your use of transliberty.org and its related pages, and to the text message and phone programs of Trans Liberty (a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, EIN 41-5088580) and Trans Liberty PAC (a federal political committee, FEC ID C00901769). "Trans Liberty," "we" and "us" mean both organizations. By using them, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
Text message program
Program. Trans Liberty text messages, sent by Trans Liberty and Trans Liberty PAC. We send updates on our work, alerts about events affecting trans people and our rights, requests for contributions and volunteer help, and messages to schedule or follow up on a call with our team. Each message says which organization it comes from when that matters, for example in a request for a contribution.
How you join. You join by giving us your mobile number and agreeing to receive texts, for example on a sign-up, petition or contribution form, including a joint action with partner organizations, or by texting a keyword to our number. You can also ask a member of our team to text you during a call.
Consent is not a condition. You do not have to agree to receive texts to contribute, volunteer, or use our website.
Frequency. Message frequency varies.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Check your mobile plan for details.
Opting out. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. We will send one message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed, and then no more messages from that program. To join again, sign up again the same way you first joined.
Help. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].
Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Eligibility. You must be the account holder for the mobile number, or have the account holder's permission, and be at least 18 years old.
Privacy. We do not sell, rent or share mobile numbers, or text message opt-in data and consent, with any third party for their marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.
Phone calls
Members of our team and our volunteers may call you about our work and to ask for your support. To stop our calls, tell the caller or email [email protected]. We keep our own do-not-call list and honor every request.
Contributions
- Contributions are processed by ActBlue or another payment processor, and are subject to its terms.
- Each contribution form says which organization receives the money.
- Contributions to Trans Liberty and to Trans Liberty PAC are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
- By contributing to Trans Liberty PAC, you confirm that the contribution is made from your own funds and complies with federal law. Contribution forms state the specific rules that apply, including that foreign nationals may not contribute.
- Contributions are generally final. To ask about a refund, email [email protected].
Using our website
- You may use our website for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes.
- Do not try to interfere with the site, gain access you are not given, or collect information about other users.
- Our text, graphics, logos and tools belong to Trans Liberty, Trans Liberty PAC or their licensors. Do not copy or reuse them for commercial purposes without our written permission. You may share links to our pages.
- Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

- Our website and programs are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind.
- We work to keep information accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that it is complete or error free.

Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
